NEWPORT'S ACTIVE TRAVEL PLAN

Newport City Council is updating its Active Travel Network Map (ATNM), and there is one week left to have your say via our survey!

Active travel is a term used to describe walking and cycling for purposeful journeys to a destination, or in combination with public transport. Under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013, all local authorities in Wales must regularly review and improve their walking, wheeling and cycling routes.

Our current map of existing and future routes was approved by the Welsh Government in 2022, and in line with the Act, it's now time to review the map and consider which routes we should prioritise for development in the next few years, subject to funding being available.

These routes will be included on our new draft ATNM, which will go to statutory consultation next spring, followed by submission to Welsh Government by December 2026.

This Friday 14^th November, 2pm - 5pm, we will be hosting an online drop-in video call on Microsoft Teams, where you can have your say on where you want to see walking, cycling and wheeling improvements across Newport. Joining instructions can be found below.
