NOTICE is hereby given that Newport City Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, intends to make the above order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Footpath 406/58/1 adjacent to the riverbank between Jubilee Park estate at grid reference ST263880 to the Rogerstone Welfare Grounds at grid reference ST264882. A copy of the draft order, plan and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the order, may be inspected via request to Conveyancing.Team@newport.gov.uk or telephone 01633 656656. If you wish to object to the proposals, you should send the grounds for your objection in writing to the undersigned by 19 January 2024.

Statement of Reasons (SOR) The Council considers this Order necessary as due to a natural phenomenon the public footpath has become unusable. Use of the remaining path could result in serious injury and therefore cannot be promoted as available for use.

Newport City Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) in exercise of its powers under Sections 1(1) and (2) and 2(1) to (3) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, hereby makes the following Order:- 1. No person shall proceed along the length of footpath set out in the Schedule to this Order. 2. This Order shall come into operation on the day of 2024 and may be cited as the Newport City Council (Footpath 406/58/1, Rogerstone, Newport) (Prohibition of Pedestrians) Order 2024.
